Question Posed

What do you do when you're in a mood (if you ever randomly feel like crawling under a rock and hissing at all and sundry that try to approach; if not, this question is not for you) to try and get out of it?  What do you do to deal when you wake up despising everything and not wanting to do anything but be a hermit?

Meme!

From Shanra, and because it's an easy way to let people know...things?

01) Are you currently in a serious relationship?

Nope, and not certain I ever have been, really.

02) What was your dream growing up?

To make a difference in the world.  That dream has changed, shrunk a little, but it's still there.

03) What talent do you wish you had?

Violin playing, art, every language possible, actually, all music instruments, voice, acting, dancing, climbing, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture
.

04) If I bought you a drink what would it be?

Whiskey and coke.  Mmm.

05) Favorite vegetable?

Toss up between zucchini and spinach...and broccoli.  And cauliflower.  And....WHY MUST I CHOOSE.

06) What was the last book you read?

>.>  ...don't make fun of me.  The Mage, by Jean Johnson.

07) What zodiac sign are you?

Pisces and Water Pig.  Not sure why, but I seem to be on the end of everything...

08) Any Tattoos and/or Piercings? Explain where.

Ear piercings.  Also, I'd almost like to get a tattoo, but the whole, "I hate needles" thing kinda makes that hard.

09) Worst Habit?

Um, I bite my nails?  Also, I have a habit of shying away from confrontation and fights when I'm defending myself.

10) If you saw me walking down the street would you offer me a ride?

Um, considering I've given several hitchhikers a ride, probably.  Though my friends have been vehement in breaking me of that habit.

11) What is your favorite sport?

Swimming.  Definitely swimming.  Or maybe rock climbing.

12) Do you have a Pessimistic or Optimistic attitude?

*shrugs*  Depends on the day, really.

13) What would you do if you were stuck in an elevator with me?

Talk with you and wait til they fixed the elevator?  Luckily, I am not claustraphobic,

14) Worst thing to ever happen to you?

Um.  Probably my brother attempting suicide.  That really sucked.

15) Tell me one weird fact about you.

Which one?  I have many.  ...I asked my mother, and she just laughed at me and said she can't choose.  -_-;;  ...but since she just gave me a baby dragon, I shall forgive her.

16) Do you have any pets?

Jad, my fuzz-faced cat.

17) What if I showed up at your house unexpectedly?

Um...have a cuppa?

18) What was your first impression of me?

Shanra is a cutie.  ^_^

19) Do you think clowns are cute or scary?

I despise clowns.  Traumatized as a child.

20) If you could change one thing about how you look, what would it be?

Would it be horribly American of me to say my weight?

21) Would you be my crime partner or my conscience?

*evil grin*  Both.

22) What color eyes do you have?

Really dark brown.  Though one ex once told me my "eyes are like honey."  ...I tried, I really did, not to laugh.  I failed..

23) Ever been arrested?

No, but only because I can cover my tracks.  >:D

24) Bottle or can soda?

Um, bottle I suppose, but I don't actually drink much soda.

25) If you won $10,000 today, what would you do with it?

School.  Get an apartment, and set some aside.  Oh, and I need a new suit jacket.

26) What's your favorite place to hang out at?

Most anywhere with my friends, but I have a favorite cliff in Spokane, and a pool hall in Sacramento.

27) Do you believe in ghosts?

I'm with Shanra on this one, but once I saw lights that were unexplainable...dancing lights, very pretty.

28) Favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Ditto to Shanra's!

29) Do you swear a lot?

On occasion, but I do try not to if any of my elders are around.

30) Biggest pet peeve?

People chewing with their mouths open, and the sound of grinding teeth.  Those both send shivers up my spine, and NOT in a good way.

31) In one word, how would you describe yourself?

-_-  I hate this question.  Um, Jeff says sensitive.  (not JABsy.  I don't think he knows the meaning of the word)

32) Do you believe/appreciate romance?

I would like to.

33) Favorite and least favorite food?

*smiles*  Shanra's sounds good, but mine is miso.  Bad days, tummy aches, colds, and depressions are held off by my mom's miso.  As for least favourite...celery.  I absolutely despise celery.

34) Do you believe in God?

I call myself a deist, but I like Shanra's ietsist.

35) Will you repost this so I can fill it out and do the same for you?

I've filled it out and am posting it for others to see and/or do themselves, is that all right?

Water

According to many ancients, water is life as well as death.  It's a constant contradiction of itself, at once being soft and hard.  Water can be anything; moving, still, silent, roaring, spouting, falling.  It heals, hurts, is a vital part of life, but easily takes it as well.  It carves cliffs and valleys, but chooses the path of least resistance.  It's powerful, gentle.  I've always wanted to be like water.  It's odd, I admit, but hey, we all knew I was weird before now anyway.

Down, down/up, up?

Today has been an interesting mix of emotions.  First was utter exhaustion since I fell asleep at 5 a.m. and then was woken up again at 7.  Second was sadness and pride as my babyest brother left for China to teach English as a second language, with a bit of nerves thrown in (had to drive him down to San Fran from Sac, thus the early[ish, wouldn't be normally] rising after spending most of the night talking and such with him.).  Following that was excitement when my mom told me she'd gotten us tickets to Lion King.  All in all, an odd day.  It still doesn't seem like Rob's really gone.

I feel like I should feel guilty for looking forward to this so much...  Oh, well.  Makeup is applied, nice clothing donned, and hair done, so I guess it's off to the theatre.  This should be good.

Mangling the stories from my childhood

  The Magic KettleCollapse )

Now see, what's interesting about this is this was copied from The World's Best Fairy Tales, from Japan Tales, Andrew Lang collection, and while close, is not actually the story I grew up hearing.  The story I heard was that the tanuki cursed the first man that had him, as the man had put him over the fire, and then when he found out that his kettle was a tanuki, threw it out, where the junk man then found it and took it home since he needed a kettle.  When the junk man tried to make tea the tanuki cried out, and he immediately took him from the fire and apologized.  Because of this kindness the tanuki did not cause him trouble, but told him that he would be a rich man if he showed the kettle off and let it perform.  All the tanuki wanted was to not be put over the fire and to have as many rice cakes as he could eat.  The junk man agreed, of course, and this went on happily for the both of them, until the junk man was quite rich.  Then, content enough with what he had, the junk man decided to retire and had the tanuki put in a shrine where rice cakes were brought every day.  The original owner was then shown as a beggar man who showed up at the door, and was given charity, and learned then of how the great master of the house had come to be so rich-this is rather jumbled, but I hope you get the idea.  Anyway, I think the version my family told me is better than this one.  Just sayin'.

Dear Powers That Be:

I do not ask much of you.  I try to get by on my own, make my way on my merits rather than trusting to luck or your benevolence.  So I have to wonder...WHY WON'T YOU LET ME SLEEP!?

Sincerely,

A disgruntled, sleep-deprived individual contemplating using a mallet to get desired results.
